Creating a compelling magazine to drive readership and engagement.

A bi-annual publication with a reach of 30,000, The Star is a critical marketing piece for Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC) to keep their broad community up to date with the College and importantly enhance the school’s reputation among those considering an MLC education for their daughter’s.

Engaged by the marketing team, Blueboat audited recent Star editions to understand how layouts could be improved to increase visual appeal and motivate readers. The resulting refreshed visual identity for The Star embraces a uniquely MLC personality typeface, use of white space and highlighting of key text elements. Applied to each spread the visual application guides the reader through the narrative, ensuring the College’s key messages are resonating with their community. Anecdotal feedback from faculty staff, marketing, current parents and alumnae has been overwhelmingly positive. The College now has a bi-annual publication right for a school who are inspiring citizens the world needs.
