In the 2018-2019 Budget, the then Treasurer Scott Morrison announced $500 million for the Australian Genomics Health Futures Mission, $20 million of that was for Mackenzie's Mission, a pilot program of reproductive genetic carrier screening. The ground-breaking pilot study of pre-conception trials will screen 10,000 Australian couples before they conceive or in early pregnancy. The program is named after Mackenzie, who died age 7 months of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type one, and her parents who campaigned for Federal funding in her name.
Blueboat designed and developed material to capture public sentiment and support people along the journey to understand the pilot study testing process and potential outcomes - helping them make an informed decision about carrier screening.
The films, website and collateral give a unified visual identity, sensitively narrating potentially complex subject matter, whilst appropriately respecting the heart to which this project was born from. Blueboat are proud to have contributed to this ground-breaking pilot study and Mackenize’s Mission.
