Melbourne Brain Center
Donor Recognition Installation
Bringing research achievements and donor contributions to light in an internationally recognised installation.
The Melbourne Brain Centre is home to Australia’s largest brain research collaboration, bringing together five neuroscience and mental health research institutes in landmark, state-of-the-art facilities across two campuses at Melbourne University and the Austin Hospital.
The original brief was to propose a way to thank donors to the Centre, and to recognise the research that is underway. The only requirement was that it was not a plaque.
With many stakeholders, audiences and insights to consider, early workshops proved invaluable in setting the tone for installations. Once a clear direction was set and agreed to, we engaged and collaborated with a team of talented local suppliers to bring our vision to life.
We proposed around 10 creative concepts, ranging widely in scope. The result was a unique, light responsive wall installation, coupled with window graphics that can be viewed inside and outside the building.
The response to the installations has been so positive, Blueboat was approached to create another wall installation for the Parkville campus.
Working with Blueboat allows me to leave the tough stuff to them. They go so far beyond design work, into passionate management.
