art and wine = divine

A month or so ago I visited the TarraWarra modern art gallery and winery in the Yarravalley. It was a beautifully sunny day and I was very impressed and inspired with the whole TarraWarra experience.

The gallery was exhibiting George Baldessin’s work which explored the artist’s “remarkable, distinctive contribution to Australian art, selecting paintings and drawings as well as the better known etchings and sculptures from the significant body of work produced by Baldessin before his premature death at the age of 39 in 1978.” His style has been described as “unaccustomed elegance, ambiguous sexuality and svelte craftsmanship.” I loved his series of pears – explored through different mediums so poetically. I also loved their selection of wines in the cellar door and meeting an eccentric fellow that hitch-hiked around the region carrying his own Riedel glasses (x8+!) to use for each different variety he tasted – he was quite the wine enthusiast!

I hope you enjoy the snapshots below as much as I enjoyed the experience – or even better experience it yourself!

Snapshots are a bit small :(

I’d love to see Baldessin’s exhibition though!
